Bixby Fire Department - Station #2  Replacement
Bixby, Oklahoma

With the extraordinary growth in residential subdivisions and retail development on the north side of Bixby,  Bixby's fire department officials identified the need for the enlargement of the existing station #2 located at 121st Street South and South Memorial Road (State Highway 64).  Having seen  MAPC's  design for Sapulpa's new Fire Station #4,  Chief Abel called on our team to provided design services for proposed replacement of stations #2.

This station is designed to house a two four man companies. The 7,729 s.f. station will house a dormitory with showers and toilet facilities,  kitchen and dayroom areas as well as space for 3 apparatus,  alarm/dispatch, and a gear/ tool storage area.  A large training room will provide space for educational as well a physical training.  Special features will include a decontamination area within the apparatus bay,  special apparatus exhaust contaminate control  systems and airlocks between the apparatus bay and living quarters.  The exterior will be a combination of brick and stone masonry with a pitched shingle roof to make the stations esthetic as compatible as possible with adjacent residential neighborhood.   Construction costs for station #2 to be completed in 2007 is in the range of $1,340,000  or $173.37 per Square Foot.
