North Peoria Church of Christ Faced with rapid growth in attendance and with existing facilities that could not accommodate the growth, the North Peoria Church of Christ decided that it was time to plan for the future by the addition of a new Sanctuary facility. The new Sanctuary is initially planned to seat 960 on two levels, with future expansion within the building to seat over 1,300. The main floor consists of the main Sanctuary, cry rooms / nursery rooms, an office suite, toilet facilities designed to accommodate over 1,300 people, a library, a commercial serving kitchen and 400 seat dining hall, and a Baptismal with dressing rooms. The second floor contains balcony seating for the Sanctuary, toilet facilities, 12 classrooms, and a resource / workroom serving the classrooms. Future expansion of the Sanctuary would replace the classroom spaces with seating to increase the capacity of the Sanctuary. The Sanctuary was designed in a "fan shape" which allows the people within the Sanctuary to be closer to the speaker. Any seat within the Sanctuary space will be located no farther than 75 feet away. Located on the Southern edge of two city blocks of land owned by the Church, the new Sanctuary facility shares parking with the two existing buildings on site, that will remain operational during construction and after the Sanctuary is completed. Situated within a residential neighborhood, and abutting a major arterial street, the design of this facility is complimentary in scale to the houses along the East, while becoming more monumental at the front entrance along the arterial street. Constructed of quality materials, such as masonry, tinted & insulated glass in aluminum windows, metal siding and soffits, and a steel cross tower at the main entrance, this facility plans to be the focal point of a old neighborhood undergoing urban renewal.
