Metro Christian Academy
New Tulsa Campus Study
This project was a new campus for a preschool through 12th grade
interdenominational private Christian school currently occupying a facility
owned by the Public School System. Under pressure from increased enrollment and
an uncooperative landlord, the decision was made to build a new facility. The
process began in late 1994 with the hope of moving in mid 1998. The preliminary
directive for the A&E team was to assist in programming the new facility and
prepare design documentation sufficient to communicate the scope and design
concept for fund raising. School administration and the parents fixed the
maximum student population at 1100 students. Student enrollment in 1995 was 850.
The program called for a unit school composed of the following:
Elementary School
Middle School
High School
Library/Media Center
Fine Arts component including a 1200 seat auditorium
Athletics including 3 gymnasiums and swimming pool
Football Stadium, athletic fields and playgrounds
Cafeteria
Administration
Service/Maintenance
The exterior design is a mission style with Terra Cotta metal roof on a brick
and stucco base.
Several courtyards provide controlled exterior activity areas.
Our team delivered the programming and concept under a very tight schedule of
90 days.
